Indian River Area Fishing Report

January 20th, 2020

1/20/20

When you think Indian River, MI you tend to think of the inland water ways and the two prestigious lakes the touch and those are Mullet and Burt Lake. This week we are focusing on Burt Lake and the plenty of species that can be caught. As always use extreme caution when out on the ice. The northeast end of the lake has been producing good numbers of walleye, perch, burbot and even the occasional brown trout. Tip ups with sucker minnows, and golden/blue shiners have produced good numbers of walleye. Also dead sticking with perch minnows or blue shiners have done well if you dont feel like chasing tip ups. The two other techniques that have been producing are jigging smaller jigging raps and spoons(do jiggers/tingler spoons) tipped with a minnow head.
The areas you're going to want to focus on are sharp tight breaks off main lake points and shore lines. The other areas you will want to focus on is mud flats or areas with softer bottoms where bait fish will be, find the bait fish and you will find predators.
