6-15-20 Bays de Noc-Escanaba Mi.
After a slow start to the spring the walleye bite is starting to pick up on Little and Big Bay de Noc. On Little Bay de Noc snap jigging 1/4 ounce VMC Moon Eye Jigs paired with a Kalins Jerk Minnow along various shoreline breaks and points has been producing fish. Drifting crawler harnesses over and along new weed growth has been putting some nice fish in the box as well. On Big Bay de Noc walleye are being caught in 14-18 feet of water in the mudflats out from the Fish Dam river while pulling crawler harnesses. Gold, purple, hammered copper, and chartreuse blades or a combination of these colors have been working best on crawler harnesses. Smallmouth bass fishing has been exceptional on Big Bay de Noc in the same area while casting swimbaits. It’s been a good source for a lot of action to have two people casting for smallmouth off the bow of the boat while pulling crawler harnesses off the back for walleye.
