With late summer upon us the fish in Superior are getting active. One doesn't need to be way out to find fish.40-80 ft depths and fishing 20-40 ft down can work. Down riggers are nice but add dipsy's and lead core lines into the spread and you'll be ready. Four to six color Smaller to mid size spoons seem to match what the fish are feeding on. Also a flasher fly also will catch fish if not it'll attract them in. As of for colors the fish will dictate that Don't be afraid to change colors until you find what the fish want for the day. Also color can change as the day goes on.A fish hawk seems to help with finding 50-60 degree water and with the Superior currents help maintain proper speed. Yes I did say up to 60 degrees but remember these fish are feeding and the fry from spring spawn are moving out into the lake. With all said don't get stuck with one approach mix
items up until the pattern for the day is shown. Enjoy the Western U.P.
