Crappie fishing on lake Mitchell is on fire. They have started to school up in 16 to 18 foot of water. You have to work the drops until you find a school and then anchor up or use your spot lock. Limit catches are coming on beetle spins either black or white colors as well as hair jigs beneath slip bombers. Minnows are still catching good numbers but jigs and beetle spins are the hot methods. Houghton Lake has slowed down some but the summer pattern is still producing a mixed bag of all species on lea h rigs along the outside edges of the weed bed. Pulled a real nice 4lb class small mouth out of Lake Mitchell on a leach rig last week. Now is the time to start shifting to the fall patterns and watching for incoming cold fronts. Fish will be hanging close to where the schools of bait fish are found and will turn on for a feeding frenzy the day before and just in front of an
approaching front. What you weather forecasts and you'll find some great fishing yet to come as we transition into fall. Need a good charter? Call Randy Cornell at CARMA
