Walleye opener has come and gone with many anglers finding some success. The weather has been the biggest issue with lots of fronts and some wind making boat control as well as spot choices limited. Those that did catch fish are reporting the system as behind the eightball. The walleye and perch are still very shallow (5-7') and seem to be wanting minnows. Slip bobbers, jigs and plain hook rigs are all good choices in this early time of the season. Night fishing will certainly be productive for several weeks. We haven't seen any panfish action in the shallows yet, it's just to cold at night for the water to warm up much.
Good luck!
