1-23-22 Lake Gogebic in the Western UP. Guys the first month of the season has been outstanding up in the Western upper Peninsula for big perch. Guide Justin Soffa, has been really putting his customers on some awesome fish. The early-season bite for walleyes has now tapered off into more of random fish in early morning late in the evening situation. But the big perch have been cooperating, many times all day long on a slow pick. You're never going to just beat these type of fish up as far as numbers. These fish are as big as the walleyes so getting 5-6 of them a day is more than enough for an awesome memorable trip, as well as some great eating. If you're looking to get up there and experience it? Then you'll want to call Justin Soffa or call the Timbers resort in Bergland and they can put you in contact with him, as well as get you great accommodations on the lake.
