1-31-22 Great Lakes Bay Well the fish are finally being caught all over Saginaw Bay. The best fish being caught are from 20-25ft east of the plug, and also good numbers of fish are being caught in 18-22 ft in front of Linwood. The best presentations are definitely jigging spoons tipped with a minnow head. You can also do well with a Russian spoon and a minnow head. I like to jig the spoon aggressively about 4 inches to a foot and a half off the bottom using some good long jigging motions and don't forget to drop it all the way to "pound bottom" at times. The pounding action really calls them in. Also when you get a fish on your screen sometimes just go dead and they'll come in and slam it. The ice is a good 6-10 inches all over the bay. The cracks are a little active seeing spots open up as much as 4ft today. Remember with warming weather this week the cracks can really really open up
quickly. Always fish with your cell phone fully charged and try to fish with the group. If something happens call for help immediately.
