1-29-24 Oscoda area
Lower AuSable River
The recent warmer temperature finally cleared out the ice jams and the lower AuSable is safe to access by boat. Water temps are a bit cold at 33.26 degrees and the flow is up due to the melting runoff. Active chrome steelhead can be found in the deep runs. Bobber fishing with beads and wax worms and a slow presentation hot shotting body baits are consistently producing fish. Mag lip lures size 3.0 and 3.5 in the green pirate and gold/orange patterns working best. If the warm weather holds, the spring run will likely be earlier than usual.
