Saint Ignace Michigan Area Fishing Report

5-22-24 St Ignace area
Well, the big Atlantics were definitely hitting today out of Saint Ignace. We started fishing quite close to Mackinac Island and worked our way around the East side of Bois Blanc. We ended up landing to big Atlantics and lost two more other large ones. We also lost a trophy lake trout right behind the boat. We were however able to add an additional boat limit of lake trout of perfect eating size to our catch. We targeted water 50 to 75 feet deep. The Atlantics came on a 50 copper and a 200 copper. We also had great success on 125 coppers for the Lakers. Our divers were set at 75 back on a three set. Our riggers didn’t take a lot of fish, but we did get a couple off of them and they were set at 40 down. Trolling speed was 2.5 to 2.6 Dream Weaver superslims was the only bait we put on , and anything orange with gold was fantastic. The Straights Area fishing has been going now for a couple of weeks and should continue all the way through the summer. We’ll keep you posted.
