Visit Gaylord! Located in the exact center of Northern Michigan on the 45th parallel, Gaylord literally offers something for everyone. Known as Michigan’s Alpine Village our Alpine themed shopping district offers visitors a quaint, clean setting with a multitude of Downtown Shopping experiences. Our downtown pavilion offers weekend entertainment, a twice weekly farmers market and a vast array of events and activities.
Well known as a Recreation seekers paradise, you will want to experience all that Gaylord has to offer including the North Central State Trail which goes from Gaylord to Mackinaw City. This trail is a great hiking and biking trail in the summer and part of our 300 mile snowmobile trail system. One of Gaylord’s prime features is the area’s 15 championship caliber Golf courses. With numerous courses receiving national rankings and hotels and resorts offering spectacular packages, Gaylord is known as America’s Summer Golf Mecca.
The Gaylord Area is described by the locals as, “The Best Trout Fishing in the Midwest!”
Otsego County is the headwaters to five favorite rivers: Black River, Pigeon River, north branch of AuSable River, Manistee River & Sturgeon. The Gaylord area is home to over 90 lakes and rivers giving you plenty of options to drop a line.
Otsego Lake is located on the south side of Gaylord with many access points. Bass, Muskie, Pike are some of the favorites.
Otsego Lake State Park offers a fishing pier to make dropping a line easier without a boat.
