Great Lakes Bay Region
When you visit, we don't just want you to go.  We want you to go great.  And that's pretty easy to do when you're in a place where six destinations that are amazing on their own... come together to form something even more incredible.  That place is the Great Lakes Bay Region.  And here, the destinations of Bay City, Birch Run, Chesaning, Frankenmuth, Midland, and Saginaw are ready and waiting for you to choose how you'll Go Great Lakes Bay.  So go ahead.  Blaze some trails.  Taste our world-famous dishes.   Make our annual festivals and traditions your own.  Maybe even find a few free things to do.  Whatever you do, we hope you enjoying making the experience all your own.

Events and Festivals
There's always something to celebrate here! Whether you're into out-there extravaganzas like Bringin' Back the 80's or the Linwood Pickle Festival, or some of Michigan's oldest and most traditional festivals like the Frankenmuth Bavarian Festival, one thing's for sure-Michigan's Great Lakes Bay Region knows how to keep the good times rolling.

Outdoor Recreation
There's always something amazing about the great outdoors.  The fresh, open air and the grass beneath your feet.  But there's something even more amazing about it here.  Literally.  That's because we're nestled in a one-of-a-kind spot where not one, but two biotic provinces overlap, leaving our region with a combination of flora and fauna (plants & animals) that refuse to make their homes anywhere else but here.

Waterfront Recreation
Landlubbers beware.  The beauty of the Great Lakes Bay was born on the calm waters of Lake Huron's Saginaw Bay and raised on our scenic riverways.   What does that mean for you?  More waterfront recreation than you can fit in a single trip.  Climb aboard the Appledore Tall Ship schooner for a day sail where you'll help man the riggs, a romantic stargazer sail, or a gourmet dinner cruise.  Or hop the Princess Wenonah or Islander of Bay City Boat Lines for one of their Friday night entertainment cruises complete with live bands on board.  High-octane thrill seekers and serene nature lovers alike will find the ride of a lifetime in our Johnny Panther Quest Adventure Tours.  That's because these boat tours through the "Everglades of Michigan" are 100% customized to your level of adventure. We've also got dozens of fishing charters that will give you access to some of the best waters around for world-class walleye and more.

Not to brag, but we're also home to a National Wildlife Refuge that spans nearly 10,000 acres of marsh, forest, and grasslands and has been designated as a US Important Bird Area.  If that's not enough to get you off of your couch, maybe our miles upon miles of ultra-connected recreational trails will be. We've got the Saginaw Valley Rail Trail that spans nearly 10 miles of abandoned railroad corridor from St. Charles to Saginaw and crosses over the Shiawassee State Game Area.  The 30 miles of Pere-Marquette Rail Trail span from Midland's Tridge to the outskirts of Clare.  And even the Bay City Riverwalk & Rail Trail, which will lead you along the river and through the woods (but not to grandmother's house) for 17.5 miles of waterfront views and woodlands.
